Asbestos in cellar? (Spelt right... πŸ™„)

Been try to sort out house - it’s very old and has had limited modernisation done in the last 30 / 40 years, and nothing in cellar - do I need to worry about asbestos?
Did they line cellars with it back then?
The paint work has β€œbubbled” up with the damp and there is a bit of white powder coming out of it.

They didn’t generally put asbestos in paint, asbestos is normally ok if it’s left un- disturbed ie don’t go drilling holes creating dust, it’s normally in pipe lagging insulation or floor tiles, I suspect your paint is a lime whitewash and it’s lime powder, the only way to really know if you don’t have asbestos is to get a survey carried out by a reputable company

Thanks - super helpful - now you say lime - I do recognise the dust / powder.
