How noisy is an extension?

We are on the process of buying a house and have just found out the attached house have just got planning permission for a single storey extension. We are working at home and will be for some months to come at least and are really concerned about the noise this could cause. Has anyone done an extension or lived next to one and can comment? Thanks

Yes it will be noisy. We live next to a house that’s had building work going since January. Some days are ok, some are awful.

But the same could happen anywhere you buy.

@minipie yes I suppose it could happen with any house we buy but hopefully not when we are in tier 3 and are basically in the house all the time and trying to work
