Wooden shutters- sound proofing

Just wondering whether anyone has had wooden shutters in order to help with sound proofing? Our back garden backs onto 2 student houses, they are extremely noisy!! I’ve recently had new double glazing which has helped, however, they are due back next year and I’d really like to be able to sleep when they move back in. Thanks.

We have shutters but I didn’t notice it made any difference to the noise level, but it’s quiet around here mostly . Sorry not much help.

Sorry to say we found shutters actually seemed to amplify road noise. We replaced flimsy curtains with shutters and I think its something to do with the sound bouncing off the hard surfaces.

We got secondary glazing in the end and wished we'd done that first as the shutters don't fit quite so well now.

Agree with @TroublesomeTownHouse - do secondary glazing with as big a gap as you can, that will help hugely. Then shutters (no effect on noise, just pretty)!

Soundproofing needs t be solid otherwise the sound gets through - are the shutters solid?
