Will more houses come on after Christmas/New Year?

Absolutely nothing new coming onto the market in our area 🤷‍♀️

A couple of houses that have sold and the sales have fallen through but they are 20-80k overpriced (probably the reason they are back on)

Registered with every agent, checking rightmove daily hourly and still nothing new, lots of nice houses well above our price range. I’ve sent some emails to agents this evening so I’m hoping for some answers tomorrow 🤞

Ive widen the search area but from memory this is a very slow time of year isn’t it?

I just want to move...

Yes annoyingly I think people will wait until the new year now.

Although my local estate agent said that people should put up now as the best time to be on is boxing day, it's apparently the busiest day on rightmove.

I'm still hoping things will start moving as with each passing day that stamp duty feels more and more out of reach.

Yes.... more houses come on every day. Will it be one you want? Who knoooows. Patience!

Just so frustrating - the only one I was actually interested in went under offer as I was on the phone to the estate agent.

Highly unlikely we will get the stamp duty now as searches are taking 6-8 weeks 🤷‍♀️

I've seen a lot of stuff around here being taken off the market without having gone Sold STC - I assume people who are going to try again after Christmas, probably with a different agent. The problem is, those are all houses that had a reason they weren't selling!

We've given up on making the stamp duty holiday, but I think a lot of sales in progress will fall through in Feb/March when other people realise they're not going to make it in time and aren't prepared to take the hit. There will be some who want/need to move regardless, so their houses will be back on the market when their chain collapses.

Mine is going on tomorrow!

I really really hope so 🤞🏼 Had to pull out of a purchase 2 weeks ago and think we will lose our buyers soon if we don't find anything. Looked at 4 properties last week - all in desperation - none were right - feel under so much pressure to find something now.

We are in the same boat. Our house is under offer, but now we have started looking, there is nothing to buy! I obsessively keep refreshing right move. How long is a reasonable time to find a house? I doubt we will find anywhere by Christmas...

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 03/12/2020 06:13

I had an inkling they might extend the stamp duty holiday... but now there’s a vaccine (yay!) I think things may go back to normal more quickly. And Rishi needs his dosh.

Is there an option to rent and sit waiting as cash buyers?

INeedADayOff · 03/12/2020 06:53

Fingers crossed for a quick sale @Doryhunky

I’m going to spend the day chasing some agents to see if they know of anything coming on!

The market was crazy 2-3 months ago and now nothing! I’m expecting a small drop in prices at some point but major maybe 2% ish

I once read that the busiest day for people searching Rightmove etc. was Boxing Day.
If that’s true, I can imagine quite a lot coming on the market shortly after Christmas. Traditionally I think November/December are a low point, property-wise. People are so often busier in the run up to Christmas and don’t want the hassle of having to keep the place super-tidy/uncluttered for viewings.
