I have three Time2Technology "Oscar 2" exterior cameras. I'm really happy with them. They were very simple to put up and get running on the WiFi

Each had a micro SD card (not included) and you can view them live on your phone or tablet. I have 64gb SD cards and they record for nine days then automatically overwrite. I think you can put 128gb SD cards in maximum

You can receive notifications and speak through them but I haven't really tried. We have the notifications switched off as they're really sensitive, think trees blowing in the wind sensitive

The only downsides are that at night they aren't brilliant but I've seen a lot worse. I think for the price they are pretty good.I think they're about £80 each. One big bonus is that there's no subscription line with Hive for example, you buy them and that's it, you're not tied in to anything

Got a cheap one from Argos and attached to an old computer monitor in the spare room. Continually records over the previous day. Comes with two cameras and cost bout £70 four years ago.

When it comes to cctv get the best you can afford, a proper wired in system and hi res cameras, we have ours on the tv and also you can view it on phones, tablets etc ... the main difference between expensive systems and cheaper ones is the clarity of the pictures at night.

Whereabouts are you ? If your local Derbyshire/ Nottinghamshire area I can give you a number someone I know they do a good job and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
Ours look like this , only 4 cameras on the house at the minute but will be 6 when garage is wired.

@Chumleymouse - That looks great. I'm in Derbyshire and would appreciate a recommendation, please - planning to get some installed after we move.

Always go for the best you can afford. It really is worth its weight in gold. Going cheap from eBay probably won't work anywhere near as well as proper branded stuff like Swann, Nest and Arlo. Better yet, a system that is professionally installed like ADT.

A cheap and simple alternative that I use and love is the Blink system from Amazon. Long life Battery powered with optional wiring, motion detecting, cloud storage, audio and you're able to talk through it from an app on a phone or kindle etc.
