Nest or hive?

Looking to upgrade my thermostat. I've a newish valiant combi boiler.

Hive is cheaper, but I've been recommended nest. I want it to work with Alexa, but otherwise nothing complicated re set up. Installer will replaced the current wired thermostat in my hallway.

Which is best? Any reviews?

We recently had a Hive installed. No complaints here, works with Alexa. Really simple phone app. I'm still amazed every time I ask Alexa to adjust the temperature, or turn on the heating when I'm on my way home from work from my phone.
You can set schedules but we don't use that function.

We have hive and other products. Really like it and really simple. Given British Gas is doing fire and rehire to their employees and I know many employees are going to walk away I do wonder how much longer then will be a viable business, with mothering current management though. You can get them installed though and often on offer on amazon.

Thank you. I love the idea of using Alexa and not having to fight with the stupid control panel I have now!!

Anyone used nest?

I’ve got a nest, it’s great. So easy to use. Watch a few comparison movies on YouTube!

Tado is very good, have a look into that as well.

Another advocate for Hive... It's brilliant.

Nest here, it works with Alexa as well. We also have Nest smoke/carbon monoxide alarms.

I have both (we have a holiday home£
) both work with Alexa and both are great.

The nest had a lot of "learning" features, it will turn the heating on as you approach home etc.

I would probably go for nest, but no massive difference,

We also have a nest camera. .

MillStone · 27/11/2020 15:50

I have nest cam too. Really great and works on the same Nest app as the thermostat. Tempted with a Nest Hello...

I've gone for nest. Having it fitted on Friday. The heating that cannot be programmed (well, at least not by me) will be tamed! Grin
