Which light for my stairwell

I'm stuck between two differing styles of light and am finding it hard to choose.

The first I worry is too contemporary for my 150 year old house but it may be better at bringing light down the stairwell.

Which do you prefer?

I like the first one as it's something I'd like but unfortunately I don't have high enough ceilings!

The first, the other is too fussy.

Okay, thanks for your opinions.

2-0 it is

Another thing putting me off the first is deciding the lengths each shade would hang. I'm not into irregularity so would need equal lengths between shades and that's something I'd need to decide. Hence the 2nd is a simpler choice.

I prefer the second the first looks odd and too boring but I guess it would depend on your house if the second would suit would also need regular cleaning from dust but I think it looks a lot nicer

First, I really don’t like the second at all.

I like the first one, and I think the mdoern clean lines will contrast but not clash with an older house. Not a fan of the second.

for the second, you need a fairly grand stairway in an older house with original features.

Hmm. Not feeling the love for the 2nd. It's a fairly grand stairwell. Traditionally decorated. Dusting and changing bulbs is an issue.

I love the second and don’t like the first

I don't like either of them. You can do better, imo.
