Is this drain blocked?

I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to drains unfortunately. Been getting a rotten egg smell in my kitchen, so decided to check out the outside drain. Attached picture is the drain where the kitchen sink, washing machine and dishwasher drain into. Is this blocked? I don't know what they are meant to look like. Previous owners had it covered with plant pots Hmm

Take the grate off and put your hand in a couple of bin liners ( two is better than 1 ) and see if the trap is full, if it is scoop as much as you can out and then flush it out with a couple of buckets of water.

If the smell is in the kitchen it’s probably not the gully but it’s a good place to start and your supposed to give them a clean out every now and again.

If it's probably not the gully causing the rotten egg smell in the kitchen, what could it be? I have cleaned the sinks with soda crystals and had the water company round. They lifted the manhole cover and said the sewer was running clear. The kitchen is under the bathroom, so it could be coming from there perhaps. However, the bathroom doesn't smell at all. Do I need a plumber? Drain company?

They only time I’ve ever had a rotten egg smell in this house is when it was hammering it down and the pressure in the drains ( with too much water going-in them , blew the manhole on the street off ) ) made the toilet bubble and it smelt like eggs . But usually drain smell is ls like a musty smell. Not sure where in could be coming from , but try and track it down before you call anybody in , it’s usually something simple that you can sort yourself

I am trying everything I can think of. I'm just getting quite stressed because this smell comes and goes literally every day, it's disgusting. Kitchen stinks for at least 15 minutes at a time of rotten eggs. The bath and sink basin (above the kitchen) drain into next doors drain/gully as we are in a terraced house. The smell seems to be worse along the wall in the kitchen joined to the neighbours. Should I be able smell their drains or any problems they might have? I don't want to go pointing the finger at them if the problem is in my property. Ahhh I just want my house to smell fresh again. Angry
