Relocating a street light

We've seen a house that we're keen on buying, but the biggest bug bear for me is there's a street light directly at the end of the path, outside the front door. It looks a real eye sore.

Has anyone ever asked the council if the could move one (even if it's just a couple of meters either way) and did they say yes?

A friend of mine asked for one to be moved so she could build a driveway and it was declined.

Unless there's a safety issue, I would doubt they would move it.

You might get it removed but the council probably won't replace it. Just take into account you might be left with no light outside which will also impact your neighbours.

Don't be daft they won't move it, just because you don't like the look of it.

I think you'd get used to it, especially if council would charge you to move it!

When they changed the street lights here, they put the new one with incredibly bright white lamp right a few meters to the right, right outside my bedroom window.

They wouldn't put it back to where it was despite still working I the area.

I think you've got no chance of moving it just because you don't like how it looks 🤣🤣

Damn! It really, really looks shit 🤣 I hope the poor woman manages to sell the house, the EA said quite a few people have commented on it!

Plant a tree next to it ( one that grows quick ) my neighbours have one out out their house that is covered by a silver birch. 👍.

Remember if you can’t move something, hide it.

Councils don’t have enough money to maintain their streetlights, never mind move them on a whim! Half the ones in my city are unsafe.
