We are remodelling the house, we have flat architect drawings but I want to play around with furniture etc before I decide on things like the size of the kitchen island and see it in 3D. Does such a program exist that I can do that on for free that doesn’t require a degree to use?!

I use the Ikea kitchen planner. It’s a pretty versatile tool (not just for kitchens, they also have sofas, tables, lamps, etc in there). It’s not perfect, but you can mock up room sizes and definitely play around with the kitchen to ‘walk’ around in 3D and see if it feels/looks good or is too tight.

SketchUp is really easy to use and is perfect for the job! You can sign up for a free trial.
