TFL rail / crossrail west commute - Maidenhead, Burnham

We are buying a house in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. I will need to commute into London 2 days a week starting in 2022 and not necessarily at peak times. When crossrail finishes it will be 42 mins on the train to Liverpool St. So I think I'm being realistic about the commute.

The TFL rail Elizabeth line trains which will become crossrail have very few seats and lots of standing room. I'm wondering if anyone has already been doing this commute before lockdown and can tell me at which station all the seats are taken, and at what times of day. I suspect that at peak times Reading & Maidenhead will fill the seats up so once the train gets to Burnham it will be standing room only... Hoping some people can share their experiences. Thank you. X

I think it will depend on the new timetables and so you might not be able to tell much from previous usage.

Currently there is little advantage in people from Maidenhead or Reading getting the slow stopping TfL rail train to London. Once crossrail is fully operational (2022?) people might choose to get crossrail to avoid changing trains and hence get a seat the whole way. However it's expected that some of the trains will be semi-fast and not call at Burnham. I'd expect it would be those trains which Reading and Maidenhead passengers will try to catch as otherwise they will have a slow journey. Hence, my guess is you'll be ok because the slow Burnham trains will probably only have passengers from Taplow on.

@hgaj interesting, I hadn't thought of that at all. Thanks!
