EA has contacted me this morning to advise our buyers mortgage company won't give them a mortgage because there is asbestos in the roof tiles. They requested we had a survey done to check risk level and it came back low and that there was no disturbances but mortgage has still been refused. ( pretty annoyed because really the mortgage company should have said IF there is asbesto in the roof tiles we won't give a mortgage as that would have saved us £200 for the survey as we knew they had them in so could have told them so) Anyways my question is - has anyone else had this happen before? We only bought the house 7 years ago and it wasn't a problem with our mortgage company. Buyers are looking into going with a different mortgage company but I'm wondering if they are going to have the same issue?
