I was looking houses and found this one with shower in bedroom. Is this typical?

What’s behind the shower curtain, maybe a toilet🧐

XmasLockdown · 10/11/2020 14:46

Kind of en-suite then.

Looks like it.

Room must get damp as hell when the shower is running!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/11/2020 14:48

Is that black chair with the white ‘cushions’ a commode?

Not typical I’d say- I’d guess it was a set up to help care for an elderly or infirm person. The shower is huge and walk in so that would make sense.

It looks like the shower in the bathroom isn’t really used. There is a rail and seat in the bedroom one so possibly someone with mobility issues. Don’t quite understand why the bath wasn’t replaced with a shower though.

That is very weird. And what is the tiny chair about?
Looks like some has been taking g house calls to me.

That’s what I was wondering, and assumed. Just no. To both. 🙉🙈

The floating fire place seems odd to me too.

HadEnoughOfBears · 10/11/2020 15:14

It looks like it's set up for the needs of the person who lives there currently

Also, is there a floor plan?

I don't think so. It looks like a normal chair with a riser cushion on it.

The shower is quite badly done. The enclosure doesn't go up to the ceiling so steam will billow into the room and cause damp. It's possible to ventilate a shower enclosure well, provided it is closed in and you have the right type of extractor.

As far as I can see you couldn't roll a wheeled shower chair into the shower tray. There may be a perch of some kind at the far end. I don't see grabrails or hoist so it doesn't look like a good disability conversion, and it's more usual to put an Accessible room on the ground floor.

it would have been possible to install en-suite facilities with basin, WC, roll-in shower and enclose it much better.

It looks like quite a bit of money has been spent on it but I think the shower is not a good job.
