Infilled land- any experience?

Our searches came back showing the home we have offered on is built on infilled land - a pond, looks like was filled in 100 years ago. Land contamination search was fine. countryside surrounds the houses. The house has been there since the 60s I think, no obvious movement, no history subsidence.

Any experience with this? Haven’t had a survey yet apart from mortgage valuation.

Get a good and thorough survey letting them know in advance what your concerns are.
My last house (and the neighbour) was built on a raft on an old bog: they had driven piles down to bedrock, pored a raft and built on that. It is a completely acceptable build technique. As long as the ground type has been considered it should be fine.
