Moving in lockdown

We're hopefully moving towards the end of lockdown. We're hiring a van and moving ourselves rather than getting a removal company. I presume as we're in lockdown we're not allowed anyone to help us and it must only be dp and I that move us on the completion day?

We moved a couple of weeks into the first lockdown and had a full packing and moving service. Some firms stopped working but plenty carried on. We social distanced as much as possible, stayed in different rooms, loads of hand washing etc
Good luck I hope it all works out

Thank you for replying. We won't be using removal firms though, we'd be hiring a van and doing it ourselves in which case I presume we couldn't ask friends and family to help us?

We are moving in Dec and doing it ourselves with our parents to help regardless of the rules. We will be sensible but we have to be out and I am pregnant and we have 2 toddlers so we need the help. Not sure what else we could do differently. Cant afford actual removal people so..!

Just moved and asked if they would move us if it was a lock down and they said yes. They were great. Think they are allowed so a company by company decision. Good luck.

There’s no official guidance yet OP, it’s due out later this week.

In the tier system, you could meet anyone in groups larger than 6 to facilitate a house move. I suspect this may remain the case. Regardless, I will be using my parents, I need childcare, I cannot move a 4 bed house with two children under 3. And we’ll need my Dad to help with lifting etc.. if it breaks the rules then oh well. It’s the only one we’ve really broken & it’s for good reason! We’ll be careful to distance where possible & wear masks.
