HELP!!! I am looking to buy a house on a certain road near my children’s school. (FOREST APPROACH WOODFORD GREEN) I have gone on to Rightmove to see which houses have sold on this road over the past few years so I don’t go posting cards in those particular ones. Or shall I just wait patiently for a house to come up?

No harm at all, it's a great idea and it can work, I know someone who did it and they got their dream area.

I live in a pretty desirable location (for my local town) and loads of houses are sold this way, usually at under the open market value as well. We've had a few notes over the years. Definitely worth a shot.

Kirsty and Phill do it!

The area I want to live and street is very desirable, all big 4 and 5 bed detached houses on big plots, however there's one small 2 bedroom bungalow on the street that's the only affordable house for me in that area. It's literally one of my life goals to own that house. I would consider this option but worried about getting an arsey response.

Do it! We had an approach like this recently

Go for it, no harm done at all is there. If people don't want to sell they'll just put the card in the bin

You’ve got nothing to lose. My parents bought a house like this years ago, the people had been thinking about moving but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of viewings & estate agents. Having a ready made buyer made their mind up to sell.

GemmeFatale · 30/10/2020 18:49

We’ve had a couple of these since we moved. Only been here six months or so

Elzemni · 30/10/2020 18:53

Awwww thank you so much for your response guys. I literally sat there checking which houses not to bother and which ones I am going to approach that have most recently been sold.

What do I write? Confused

I used to be an estate agent and always used to tell people to do this

It works well!
