I live in a quiet cul de sac, any point having a for sale sign when we have no passing traffic?

To confirm to people they have found the correct house for sale, if they do bother to attempt a drive-by.

I know the signs are expensive, but it is pretty normal to have one.

Yes, we looked up load of houses on rightmove and had a drive to look where they were before deciding to book a viewing. Occasionally we'd find another for sale sign we didn't know was for sale and looked it up.

Yes - makes neighbours aware and on a road like that they’re likely to talk. That talk can generate some very genuine interest from people they know. Generally people like to know the area they’re buying into and that’s a good way in imo.

Im glad our vendor had a for sale sign. last year we were looking at a different house in a different area and seller messed us around, this house was on my walk home from work after getting off the bus, it sold then the sale fell through and having the for sale board outside informed me it was back on sale and one street from where we were renting so knew we like living where we do, viewed it two days later offered full asking (cash buyers) and 12 weeks later its ours

Yes, do it. Rightmove browsers will walk/drive around before booking viewings and if they can tell which house is yours that helps a lot.

• when we saw a house surrounded by other For Sale signs, it made use very curious why everyone one was selling at once!

No - OH didn’t want one - we live in a cul de sac so no through road and sold with the second couple who viewed within two weeks. In our previous property again had no sign on a busy road and sold first day.
