Game: which house would you buy?

reefedsail · 28/10/2020 19:58

You can move up to 10 miles from home and money is no object.

Which house on Rightmove would you buy and what would you do to it?

I think I'd have this. I do like a rectory. New kitchen and a chintz amnesty required immediately. I might get rid of the balustrades up the front steps too.

@iamme21 what an incredible house! Makes me think of the kind of houses the rich people in Josephine Cox novels live in!

JoJoSM2 · 28/10/2020 21:44

@MrsJamin I love that! All the space and the grounds by the river and looks like it’s not far from station and amenities either. Perfect!

missmeg3leg · 28/10/2020 22:17

👋to fellow cheshire-ites too!....

On my must haves is a ....... moat 😀
Despite my house being on the market, not quite sure I’d qualify for “any part exchange” 😂.....

[College Road, Dulwich Village London SE21
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-94317185.html this one please]] and I would go full maximalist on its ass - especially the garden. I may even have a small flock of sheep. (Not really 😁). A wonderful house but seems a bit dead inside.

CarHire101 · 28/10/2020 22:45

It would have to be this

ChocoTrio · 28/10/2020 22:53

Great choices so far!

Thought I'd be different and specify new builds in London.

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-98165315.html

This one looks great! Very modern!

GearChange · 28/10/2020 22:57

@Iggypoppie I live close to Bardowie Castle and was so disappointed I didn’t win the Euromillions as I’d buy it in a flash. Don’t know how I’d feel being in it in the dark though Shock

ChocoTrio · 28/10/2020 23:01

Ooooo wow this church conversion in Fulham is outstanding! www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-82843867.html

Halo

Love seeing how interior architects renovate existing buildings, especially older ones that have a change of use like this church one. There's character but also 'newness'. Very modern, but also full of history too!

emmathedilemma · 28/10/2020 23:03

I'll sacrifice the 13 bed castle with helipad for something closer to the city www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-80776468.html

Honeyroar · 28/10/2020 23:11

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-85035632.html

Probably something like this. But I’d rather move much further away.

Runkle · 28/10/2020 23:38

this one

Sirrah · 29/10/2020 00:03

I'm not greedy, this would do me! Plenty of space for family to visit, and a separate coach house for my art studio!

CatAndHisKit · 29/10/2020 01:29

Love your choice OP - this type of houses (and gardens) are just so graceful and comforting.

KoalasandRabbits · 29/10/2020 02:17

This would probably be completely impractical and a lot of work but I love this one:

MissMarplesHandbag · 29/10/2020 02:23

Something like this.
Redington Road, London, NW3
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-97659548.html
Based on the houses it’s between on RM I reckon it’s on for c£18m. So I can but dream!

Gooseybby · 29/10/2020 02:41

Great game!!!

I'd go for this: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-74507529.html

Not much on the market that truly appeals, even with money as no object! Makes me really appreciate the house i do have, even though its worth a fraction of this one! Mist on my shortlist were in the 600k bracket, so best get saving Grin

reefedsail · 29/10/2020 08:18

@happinessischocolate of all the houses, I think yours is the one I could actually live in.

There are some beautiful houses here, but some of them would spook me out if I was on my own and some of them I just wouldn't actually know what to do with all the space.

OP posts:
reefedsail · 29/10/2020 08:23

@Gooseybby I love the fact that your house has a teasmade. Do you think they are making the point that it is just too far to the kitchen?? Grin

OP posts:
reefedsail · 29/10/2020 08:23

Sorry, it was @MissMarplesHandbag with the teasmade.

Being an Ex Londoner who cannot afford to go back, I’d just like a wee little flat like this www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-71167173.html

LemonBreeland · 29/10/2020 09:59

Some lovely houses. This is the only half decent place within 10 miles of me. It's been on the market for as long as I can remember. I love the outside and some of the rooms are beautiful, but some need some serious work. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-86026264.html

Bells3032 · 29/10/2020 10:23

I am in love with this house: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-72760578.html

Bells3032 · 29/10/2020 10:24

Actually this one: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-64022695.html (It's about 8 million i think)

Strathaven, ML10

This but only if I could afford staff to clean and maintain it.
