My quotes to hang a door

I have had 2 quotes to hang 4 internal doors.

First chap £25 per door
Second chap £80 per door!!

However first one is now unavailable indefinitely.
£320 seems a huge amount of money but I can't find anyone else.

Is it a huge amount?

My other half isn't a cheap chippie (south east). He charges £300 a day. Would do 4/5 in a day.

£320 is the high side of fair. X

Did he leer at you a lot?

I use a wrinkly old chippy who does about 2 a day with lots of fag breaks, and charges half that daily rate.

I like lift-off hinges and mortice sashlocks, and usually new door linings (frames) as well. With old linings, the carpenter will blame them for any poor fit.

We had 12 doors hung recently and it worked out about £25 each, Surrey. Over 2 days.

This is why we did it ourselves. Quoted £50 per door, and we had 12!

I paid £60 recently for hanging a single door. I'd have hoped four would have cost less than £240 though. Small jobs reasonably carry a premium.
