Exchange/completion dates and movers

Just wondering when people got rough dates for exchange and completion during the house buying process?

Want to get some movers quotes but thinking we can't do that until we have some preliminary dates.

I got the quotes in before my exchange and completion dates were finalised. I chose the company I wanted and asked them what their availability was like. My dates did shift by a week but I firmed things up two days before exchange and made sure they could do the date I wanted. Removals companies are used to dealing with this.
