Time between exchange and completion?

I was wondering what the average time gap between exchange and completion is these days? When we bought this house umpteen years ago, we had two weeks between exchange and completion, but I'm wondering if things tend to move quicker these days because of covid. We aren't quite the yet, but we're being pushed towards a one week gap which seems to me not much time to get everything organised.

Ours is set at 3 weeks after exchange but that's because our seller needed time to book a removals company etc. It can happen in as little as a few days or a week. Its more uncommon these days for it to be longer than 2 weeks from what I've heard.

My solicitor has said anything between 1 to 2 weeks is standard.

I'm hoping our chain will agree to a 3 week gap but I may be being optimistic...

We have agreed to a week. I am currently getting removals quotes (we will be using the packing service as well). We don't have an exchange date yet but I want to be prepared.

You can also have simultaneous exchange and completion - not for the faint-hearted though!

1-2 weeks is the norm. Less than a week is a bit risky. We had a week when we bought two years ago and ten days on the estate sale of a relative's house which exchanged this week (keeping fingers crossed for completion next week)

2 weeks is the norm I think

I have exchanged and completed on the same day but that isn’t normal I don’t think

My previous 3 purchases were simultaneous exchange/completion but they were no chain/simple purchases.
