Anyone else waiting to exchange?

We've been waiting what seems like ages for one document to be returned at the bottom of the chain.

Wanting to exchange last friday but didn't, and didn't today either. Completion date is set for next Friday so we really really need to get it done this week.

Its just so frustrating having to just wait without anything to do!!

My only advice @NotTodayMaybeTomorrow is to hassle them all like mad! Good luck :)

DotTheCaddy · 26/10/2020 17:43

Congratulations @kerrymucklowe2020 and @sparklewater!

Keep at it everyone. It's so frustrating but hopefully all worth it. My DH just told me has become concerned about my wine consumption this past week GrinWine I don't cope well with stress!!

@sparklewater thank you! Hopefully I’ll be celebrating by the end of the week Grin

ethelredonagoodday · 27/10/2020 10:50

So we are a further week down the line, and still no nearer exchanging. Turns out we are in a six link chain with the people at the top only having just agreed their sale. So not looking likely that we'll be in before Christmas now. And we agreed our sale in August. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We were concerned on Friday last week that our buyers might pull out on this basis, but luckily they are being very reasonable about the whole thing. It's all very, very frustrating.

ethelredonagoodday · 27/10/2020 10:53

Congrats to those who have exchanged snd moved though!!!! Such a relief for you all! WineCake

Ilove · 27/10/2020 19:46

We did it! We bloody did. It!

We moved in, FINALLY, yesterday. After 3 hours sat outside waiting for the key as we were the end of the chain.

Our buyers have continued to be twats, and are really pissing me off still!!!

But oh. This IS our forever home

Good luck to all xxxxx

DotTheCaddy · 27/10/2020 20:57

How long has it taken to get where you are now?
Jedstre · 28/10/2020 18:04

We exchanged on Monday! Completion in a couple of weeks. Very happy.

mrsanflowerpot · 28/10/2020 19:48

We are completely desperate to exchange next week and complete a couple of weeks later, but who knows!

Bells3032 · 29/10/2020 09:32

Why does it take so long to literally sign some papers. We have been ready to exchange since Monday. Our sellers have been ready to exchange since Monday (they are buying a chain free house). We have no idea why it is now Thurs and we have yet to exchange. Their solicitor said they're not quite ready though our sellers have said they informed the solicitor on Monday they are.

Just do your job already!!!!!!!

sparklewater · 29/10/2020 09:57

Congratulations to everyone who is getting in and exchanging Grin

I'm surrounded by boxes and children and trying to work - I wish this hadn't ended up falling on half-term!

@Bells3032 That's exactly what we had. Everyone was ready on the Monday, it kept getting pushed back for no reason at all and it finally went through on the next Monday. Madness!

DotTheCaddy · 29/10/2020 10:15

Congratulations @Jedstre

@Bells3032 same happened here for weeks it was maddening. Hang on in there and keep chasing Flowers

Well, a week on from us signing our papers, we still haven’t exchanged and we have no idea why. Our sellers were hassling us daily and were determined to exchange Mon/Tue this week. We did everything we needed to do and then it was up to them, and now we’re no further forward.

We’re supposed to be completing middle of next week. We aren’t planning on moving in until 3 weeks later because we need to get some decorating done including some carpets which are all delayed at the minute. 3 weeks from measuring to fitting will be enough, but if we don’t get in last week in Nov then we’ll have to wait until mid-Dec because of DS’s GCSE mocks. (We will NOT move during his mocks - too much disruption, and totally unfair on him, esp with the possibility that mocks may feed into CAGS this year again.)

We need to complete next week in order to be in before his mocks. Urgh - this whole thing is so ridiculously frustrating

Simonsaysitschristmas · 29/10/2020 10:50

@XFPW we are similar to you. Meant to be completing middle of next week but still haven’t exchanged. Communication between all parties just feels so poor.

Bells3032 · 29/10/2020 14:11

Solicitor rung and said he's in touch with their solicitors and hoping we can go ahead and exchange this afternoon. fingers crossed for us please!!! Just depends on whether the people above finally respond with an agreed completion date.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 29/10/2020 15:01

Fingers crossed @Bells3032

Ours looks like it’s getting pushed back but as long as it happens I don’t really mind.

mumsy27 · 30/10/2020 01:49

most likely is to request funds from lenders, some lenders will need longer time than others.
Bells3032 · 30/10/2020 09:20

@mumsy27 You don't request funds from lenders for an exchange though. it's deposit only at this stage.

So we have had to move exchange back to next week as apparently our seller's sellers are divorcing and they need a week to make a decision between two dates. The whole thing was they were chain free and this was all gonna be nice and smooth.

Why do people feel that they can just waste people's time and be so bloody airy fairy. The delay has meant two of the four dates are no longer viable options.

I have a feeling completion is gonna be moved back to December which when we made the offer was the one thing i requested not to happen (I previously moved in December and getting anything needed delivered or any workmen out for emergency repairs was a total nightmare).

We are in a lockdown in a tiny flat with both of us working from home. I want my space

Dollywilde · 30/10/2020 13:11

Exchange has been ‘hopefully today’ for nearly 2 weeks for us, various issues cropping up and now the buyer’s solicitors are proposing a Covid clause but haven’t got the wording to our solicitor yet. I could honestly cry, I’m stuck in a tiny flat with a newborn. We need to get out of here and every day there’s a new issue. I have genuine murderous feelings towards the buyer’s solicitor (EA keeps promising it’s not the buyer but their lawyers are crap Hmm )

NotTodayMaybeTomorrow · 30/10/2020 17:01

We are finally in! Exchanged beginning of week and completion today.

I think there must be something wrong with me, I’ve been so excited about this house, but now I don’t want to move Confused
We need to change decor (not huge tasks, but things like painting/carpet etc), and hopefully planning permission for conversion. I’m hoping by the time we’ve added our own touch I will feel the excitement again.

All those waiting, really hope it doesn’t take too long for you now

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/10/2020 17:28

Congratulations @NotTodayMaybeTomorrow! I think it’s normal to lose a bit of the excitement after such a stressful process. I hope you have a lovely weekend in your new home Wine
