Anyone else waiting to exchange?

We've been waiting what seems like ages for one document to be returned at the bottom of the chain.

Wanting to exchange last friday but didn't, and didn't today either. Completion date is set for next Friday so we really really need to get it done this week.

Its just so frustrating having to just wait without anything to do!!

@boredboredboredboredbored chase every day! I plan on doing so. We pay these people so much money I think we are entitled to know what's going on!

So we finally exchanged today! Grin No idea what actually happened as when the EA finally got hold of our buyer they asked why we hadn’t exchanged yet?! We suspect their solicitor forgot the highway searches and a certain amount of arse covering was going on, but hey it doesn’t matter now as we’ve finally sold our house!

Now to it all again in a few weeks time with the house we’re buying. Here’s hoping it’s a smoother experience. At least in this instance we’re already in direct contact with each other which should make it a little easier.

mummy2pickle · 20/10/2020 21:01

Yep we are the same. We are due to complete next Friday and still waiting for an exchange date. We can't do inform bills, schools, Insurance's etc until we've exchanged and 100% know we are moving next Friday.
It's so frustrating, there's only 3 of us in our chain we have all agreed and all forms back so why the wait? 😩

NotTodayMaybeTomorrow · 20/10/2020 21:29

@PointyMcguire that’s great news. Hopefully it will be a much smoother journey for you with buying, and I believe being in contact directly will help speed things up.

@mummy2pickle it’s so hard so work out why there are delays when no one is waiting for anything. Hoping you hear back very soon Smile

PointyMcguire · 20/10/2020 21:34

Thanks @NotTodayMaybeTomorrow! We’re starting to get excited now Grin

Nomorescreentime · 20/10/2020 21:47

We are waiting here! Our buyers have to wait 10 days for HTB funds to be released for their deposit. That should be us ready to exchange then. We are in Wales though and about to go into lockdown at the end of the week, so I’m sure that will be a good excuse for a delay somewhere along the line...I really want to move as we need new furniture and if it doesn’t happen soon we won’t get it delivered this side of Christmas!

OfUselessBooks · 21/10/2020 09:53

We are waiting too and hoping for mid November. Searches were in last week but I've not heard yet. Our survey wasnt great as it turns out we need new windows, but I think we're just going to have to deal with that when we get there. We have school places and jobs lined up, just need to move!

boredboredboredboredbored · 21/10/2020 11:31

I've chased my solicitor today, apparently they've not heard a word from buyers solicitor despite saying they're ready to exchange. I've requested they chase today and I'll be on at them everyday now Angry

organisedmother · 21/10/2020 14:36

I sold my house 1st August waiting for exchange now

DotTheCaddy · 21/10/2020 15:50

Congrats @PointyMcguire!

@boredboredboredboredbored we are similar. I'm chasing, but just getting told they havent heard anything from them yet. They sound pissed off at me for chasing but I'm pissed off too, so is our seller.

Not looking good for today now either. Angry

@DotTheCaddy By god it's so bloody frustrating. If we did nothing, no chasing how long would it take? I've been the model customer, I've barely bothered them let them get on with things and give me info when able. But now I'm told we are readily to exchange SO WHY HAVENT WE??!

I've just rang my solicitor again, as despite being told I'd get a call back yesterday, I didn't. The lady on the phone told me my solicitor doesn't even work on a Wednesday......🤯

bisoubisou · 22/10/2020 11:27

Hello! Can I join you all? Grin We had our offer accepted 7 weeks ago today and hoping to exchange today. Hardly slept last night!!

DotTheCaddy · 22/10/2020 11:30

@boredboredboredboredbored how infuriating!!

The document that everyone has been waiting on has now been received apparently but we still havent heard anything from our solicitors despite needing to exchange tomorrow at the latest to meet our completion date. I had a phone call from our EA yesterday to tell me how cross our buyer is that we are still waiting. Even though it's her buyer causing the problem not us!!

Fingers crossed we both get some movement today.

DotTheCaddy · 22/10/2020 11:31

Ooh good luck @bisoubisou! 7 weeks is pretty speedy, fingers crossed for you!!

Me!!! We’re breaking the chain and moving in with my parents (me + DH + 9 week old DD + DCat - god bless them!) so on the one hand I don’t want things to progress tooo quickly, but on the other hand I really want everything to be confirmed so I can start packing/arranging movers/storage. We do have a house we’re in the process of buying but our buyer is coming out of rented as an FTB so doesn’t fancy waiting the 2/3 weeks it’ll take to exchange on the house. I just want to get out of this flat now, it’s too small since we had DD. Buyer has apparently given notice on his flat so we do have a completion date agreed (6 Nov) we’re just waiting for their ok on the final document sent at the start of the week. Solicitor said he’s optimistic that we can exchange this week but I won’t believe it’s really happening until it does...

Am waiting to exchange today too! Was supposed to be yesterday but ( we didn't find out until last minute) the buyers solicitor was on annual leave!
AmmoniteMum · 22/10/2020 13:55

Us too. We had an offer on our house 5 weeks ago. Things seem to be going ok but it’s gone a bit quiet...

NotTodayMaybeTomorrow · 22/10/2020 14:19

Good to see some exchanging today, and hoping it’s not too long for the rest of us.

How to distract oneself whilst waiting? I feel like it’s always at the back of my mind...not the most patient person in the world Blush

Stressme · 22/10/2020 14:29

Signed our contracts today they are hoping for exchange Monday! Won’t hold my breath 😩

Bells3032 · 22/10/2020 14:51

As far as my buyers know we are meant to be exchanging next week and haven't even started the enquiries yet - no idea if they have started searches. I keep being told completely contradicting info from my agent and my lawyer. As it turns out my tenants have had to postpone their leave date by two weeks anyway so at least it's not sitting empty. the offer was accepted in June as BTL. they decided in August they wanted to live there and i gave my tenants notice. It's now October and I've barely seen any movement from them. Why do people feel it's ok to waste other people's time so much.

As for my purchased (not aligned thankfully) my sellers are having loads of investigations into the house they're buying so everything has been delayed. We were meant to be completing today originally but haven't even exchanged yet. Getting more and more annoyed.

user1471538283 · 22/10/2020 17:22

Us too! Ours is a simple no chain move and its taken since August. I hope it happens in a couple of weeks!

kerrymucklowe2020 · 22/10/2020 20:34

======We have exchanged!!=====
Anyone else?.

NotTodayMaybeTomorrow · 22/10/2020 21:34

@kerrymucklowe2020 hooray! Fab news...we are still waiting for things to move along. Hoping we will hear something positive from our solicitor tomorrow

boredboredboredboredbored · 22/10/2020 21:38

@kerrymucklowe2020

======We have exchanged!!===== Anyone else?.

Awwww congratulations! Nope I haven't, chased the solicitor again - no reply. Estate agents didn't come back to me either. Late on I've fired an email off to the EA branch manager to say how displeased I am about this. She tried to ring my buyer straight away but couldn't get hold of him. See what tomorrow brings. I am going into rented and have put a holding deposit down, can't move into that until 14th November so I think they may be dropping out exchange.

It's the lack of communication that gets me really worked up though 🤬
