A month in - ? Progress

It’s been a long time since we bought and sold.

We’re a month in from accepting an offer on the place we’re selling, no updates from solicitor or EA yet. We have our mortgage offer and buyer has theirs. The sellers forms went it and were sent over. We’ve paid for searches on the place we’re buying (we’ll move in with family if need to to complete our sale as soon as buyers ready).

Does it all go quiet about now?

I don't know, but you see, to have more progress than us after four weeks

Still waiting to hear when the buyers mortgage survey will be done, so they can't even have a formal offer yet. Getting very twitchy.

I had my offer accepted in the first week of September and the chain completed a couple of weeks ago. I’ve paid for searches but nothings been done yet! It’s feeling frustrating already 😩.

That’s a bit slow for both of you. The English system needs a complete overhaul. People should be able to put down a deposit at the point of offer with searches and buildings survey comissioned by the seller.

We moved in August. Offer put in end of May, mortgage offers done both sides and then.... Nothing....

Then we got a phone call the 2nd week of August as searches had come back and they wanted a move date agreeing the next week.

My family member is dealing with the same. Waiting for searches for about 4 weeks but have been told to expect quick movement once back.

Good luck

Did you/they not have surveys done?

I think if I had news like " we are waiting for searches" I would feel comfortable that everything was being initiated

That’s crazy. Our broker warned us which banks not to go with. We applied to Barclays, they did the valuation and sent us an offer in a week.

Sounds pretty normal to me
