Let me first apologise for asking so many basic questions.

My solicitors seem very slow but I do not know what I should be expecting from them so I don’t know if I should be putting my foot down on their lack of engagement and slowness.

They receive draft contracts in the 12th of October but never informed us. They said that they will now go quiet for a couple of weeks while the do the searches.

Should they have offered for us to look at the draft contracts? So buyers get to see the draft contract?

What should I expect from them while they go into silent during the searches?

It is entirely normal to go quiet whilst they wait for searches which could be anything from 72 hours to 6 weeks. Without the searches their really not able to comment on the contract. So no they are not being slow, it will all depend on how long your searches take and what they throw up.

I've only just (Monday) spoke with my solicitor about my purchase - offer accepted end of July. It's taken that long for searches and contract pack etc to reach them.

Hi,

I'm a conveyancing solicitor.

When I get a "contract pack in" I send the title plan, fittings and contents form and property information form to my client to have a look at and let me know if there's anything they weren't expecting and if the boundaries look correct. I wouldn't send a draft contract to my client to look at though - not to be rude but it's my job to decide if the contract has been drafted correctly! When the final version is ready for you to sign, they'll be in touch.

They've told you that they'll go quiet whilst waiting for searches, which is fair enough as they'll take at least a few weeks to come back. They should let you know when the searches arrive but I wouldn't expect contact in the meantime really, as they've advised, they'll go quiet for a while whilst they wait for the results. There probably won't be anything to tell you until then.

Hope your move goes smoothly Smile
