Am about 2 years out from a significant extension and refurbishment on our 1950s detached home. A bit of demolishing (porch and garage), extending through exterior walls, rebuilding and expanding garage and then completely re-doing bathrooms, kitchen and all interiors. Not sure yet about whether will be single or double storey. Suspect budget will drive me to single. Also needing a driveway built out of what is currently a small hillock and back garden patio laid.
Where do I begin?!
I have little appetite to project manage everything myself and have zero clue how to get started. I feel like I need an architect first, then builder? Does the architect just do the designs and will they be able to help with exterior work too (so driveway and back patio?). Would an architect or builder be dismissive of planning 2 years out?
Located in pricy part of Scotland.
Any top tips?
