Gazebo with a roof

We have French doors of four kitchen that open out into some dead space into the back garden.

It's in constant shade anyway so my DH is building a shelter.

It's literally going to be four wooden posts with decking for flooring so I can put an L shaped rattan type sofa in and make it it a little outside sitting area.

We need to put a roof on it and it needs to be waterproof.

He's asked me to research what roof and he means get out the way and stop hovering watching me.

Can anyone advise what material they think for the roof. He's said not wood.

We are getting that roof you suggested.

Do you know if I can put a patio heater or another type of heater in there or can I not because it's made of wood and has polycarbonate roof?

Well once it's up properly I will post another pic just incase anyone is doing similar to see if we can pinch ideas.

I have just been happily sitting under my poly carb roof (in the rain-) of the one DH built for me.

Yea it's still up. I love it. I sit in it every day!
