What to do while we wait for Nationwide?

We are waiting for Nationwide to approve our mortgage, which we (us and our broker) are confident will happen soon after been waiting for almost 2 weeks.

The thing is we agreed with the vendor that the moving day will be the 30th of October. Provided we hear from the mortgage this week, there are still things to do between our and their solicitor.

I wonder if it's anything we could be doing to safe time.
I tried to contact moving companies for quotations, but since I can't provide an exact moving date they have not shown too much interest.

One other things is start looking for a home insurance, but again, we don't know what day for the cover to start from.

Is it anything that needs to be done I could be doing now to save time?

You can specify what date you want the home insurance to start afaik. So shop around for that now. We've booked and paid a deposit to our removal company again with date to be advised. Can't any of the outstanding enquiries be done this week? To enable possible exchange on Friday? Sympathies though - it's an even more stressful time than normal to be moving home.

You can get an insurance quote for the date you think you want it to start.
Decide who you're going to go with so you're ready.
Then come back to the quote when you know the exact date to set it up.
