We are having to replace a window in the kitchen so would anyone care to recommend a supplier please?

Going through this at the moment for a 3 pane bay.
Anglian quoted £5200 reduced to £3700 because I reminded him of his mother.
Local small company £2600
Another local company recommended by my hairdresser, £1800 for a better quality window. (£1500 for the same quality)
Moral:! Shop around/ go local/ ask for recommendations

Ask on a local Facebook group for recommendations

Find a local company, especially as it's just one window.

The national companies have a sales technique where they quote their list price (which is ridiculously high but customers don't know that) then offer you a "reduction" to make it seem like a good deal. NEVER EVER EVER accept the first price they offer. Or even the second as they will probably offer a lower price but with a time limit. Which might still be higher than a local firm.

They are literally working from a script. When I researched it a few years ago I found a website that explained it all. Can't remember the name but it's worth searching double glazing sales techniques. One of our salesman even did the "phoning his manager during the pitch to ask for special permission to offer a discount" which I knew was all bollocks as I'd read about it on the website. You have to play them at their own game, which takes effort and time, and is uncomfortable.

The salesmen are literally just salesmen. If you place an order a technical person will then come round to do the actual measuring.

We did choose a national but that was partly because I wanted decorative fanlights and they had a good selection. I am pleased with the windows, but the purchasing process wasn't a pleasant experience.

After that experience, for a single plain window I'd look for a local firm.

I went with a local company and got all my windows, patio doors, composite front door with fancy glass in. All in non standard colours for under 4k.
