Moving during local Covid restrictions

Has anyone done this? It's v v likely my city will have restrictions posed on visiting other homes in the next few days, similar to Leeds etc.

All being well, I'll hopefully be moving at the end of the month and absolutely cannot afford a removal company. Plan was to hire a van and be helped by 3 friends. Not just for the physical move but for building furniture like beds, wardrobes etc. I'm the only adult in my house and can't do it alone. With 3 kids, I really don't want to all be sleeping on mattresses without frames and have nowhere to put the clothes.

I can't find anything online but am wondering if I'd be 'allowed' to have people in my home for this? Or do I risk neighbours reporting me and getting a hefty fine? Could it be seen as similar as a tradesperson visiting, which I assume is still allowed?

No you can. It’s within the rules.. if you read the screenshot attached it says it is within the law to allow people into your home to facilitate a house move.

I’m moving next month hopefully & I will be having my parents & in-laws helping as well as removal men. I need people to help pack & watch our two young children! Our neighbours moved a couple weeks ago and had about 20 friends over helping 🙈 I’d perhaps not go that extreme but a few friends/family is within the law.

This is sooo helpful, thank you so much! Yes totally agree with you - would be so difficult (impossible?!) moving a whole family's worth of stuff and furniture without help!
