Dishwasher installation

Our integrated dishwasher has stop working. It was fixed two years ago and is old so we are replacing.

Local shop that specialises in dishwashers costs about £150 more than John Lewis if we buy and have them install new machine. However I remember when ours was fixed we were told the installation of existing machine had been botched. He “worked around it” and got machine working again. I took notice of what he told me about why he thought original installation wasn’t done right.

I’m wary of buying from a company like John Lewis/Curry’s etc in case there’s a problem with connections when it comes to installing and wonder if we are better going with the specialist company.

Anyone have any experience of John Lewis delivery people being unable to install dishwasher due to connections etc not being standard? Or can they work around most problems?

DM got a dishwasher from AO last year and paid for installation. They couldn’t do it because her valves were leaky or something. She had to get a plumber in to sort the problem, and AO came back a few days later. I’d be wary if you have non-standard plumbing. Could you buy the dishwasher you want, then get a local plumber to install it?

Thanks. Yes me wondering if that’s the best course of action. Worried delivery people will take one look and say they can’t install.
