Have your teens helped pack their stuff?

Just that really. Would I be expecting too much of young teens to put their possessions in a couple of boxes each. They have told me it is too much effort. To be honest would be less stressful to do myself but part of me feels they could at least do this small task.

I do not have anyone to help, well except removal team on the day but I need to keep my costs down and pack up myself.

I would expect them to pack up their own rooms. I would just put the boxes in their room and leave them to it. I would assume that they would do it very last minute do would tell them an earlier deadline than you need. Perhaps 24h before!

DSD was 16 when we moved and packed her own room up, although her Nana also lit into it the night before armed with all the remaining boxes so I don't know how good a job she'd actually done - I do not get involved in the StateOfYourRoom war.

Yes they should pack their rooms. If it's too much effort, it gets left behind.

God, OP, my eight year old packed his own toys and clothes when we moved last December!

'Pack what you want taken to the new house, anything not packed in boxes will be taken to the charity shop/tip on x day'

Leave them to it.

When we moved when I was 11, I was told to pack all that I wanted to take or put it on the bonfire in the garden, there was about a month between exchange and completion so plenty of time

My sons have packed to go on holiday since they were about 8, I have no idea why you would let them get away with not doing it! I would say if it's not packed, it goes in the bin.

They have to pack their own stuff from their rooms or it doesn't go. I always packed my own stuff and my DS would but only at the last minute
