Victorian floor tiles

Can anyone recommend places to look for these, other than eBay? All my internet searches are bringing up reproduction tiles which I don't want.

Your other option would be to try reclamation yards.

What about a shop like the one above? I’ve used such tiles before and they’re traditionally made just like the real deal. They come in all shapes, sizes and period-appropriate colours go recreate tiling accurately. I think you could even use them to fill in gaps in existing tiling and it could look quite good.

If you type reclaimed Victorian tiles into ebay you will find some.

You could also try Salvoweb, type in Victorian floor tiles.

The tiles made by Winckelmanns (sold by various suppliers eg Martin Mosaic) are really exactly the same as the originals technically. However the sizing can be a bit different due to metric rather than imperial.

Sorry just saw you said not ebay! As I say try Salvoweb. Gumtree maybe worth a try too.

Thank you. I may be just being fussy saying no reproduction tiles, I just feel they look new! Which isn't the look I want...I want it to look like the original tiles survived if that makes sense.

High quality repro tiles are great but do have a new look to them as they aren’t scratched or worn out. A bit like getting brand new timber sashes.

I suppose you’ll just need to put in more work to find the right original stuff.

Yes you're right. The high quality ones linked are much better than I expected, you can see how well made they are. I suppose it's whether or not I can find any originals. It's a large space which will make it harder.

Antique and SAlvo shops.

We live in the top flat of a converted building. It was carpeted from the front door when we got it. A few years ago we ripped up the old carpet to reveal lovely old tiles in the porch! Imagine putting carpet over them!

That would be amazing to find dementedma! No such luck here unfortunately although did find a beautiful brick arched fireplace that had been hidden behind a repro cast iron thing.
