What’s Saffron Walden and surrounding villages like to live?

Is it a nice area? I can see it has a good secondary and it would work for DPs commute but I’ve never been and I wonder whether you’d want to raise children/teenagers there?

I live in the area, not in SW itself but frequent visitor to the town. Can’t comment on the schools as I don’t have children, but the area is lovely and friendly and I never see any trouble in the town centre. Decent amenities, leisure centre, sports clubs and restaurants in town. We’ve chosen to move closer as we like it so much.

No train station in town though, nearest is Audley End so if the commute requires a train be aware of that.
