Getting roof tiles repaired cleaned and secured

Hi
Can anyone tell me what it should very roughly cost to get my roof (slate) tiles cleaned and secured... They are brittle, covered in moss and a magnet for birds.
Ive got birds on the roof now creating a racket moving tiles about as they pull off to prepare for nests. Throughout autumn I find bits of broken tiles and moss clumps all around the outside of my house.

It's a 3 bed bog standard 1930s semi detached.

Don't think I'll ever be able to afford a roof replacement. Thank you

I had the same thing, exact type of tiles and house. I paid £300 to get it all scraped and a solution applied to stop moss growing again. I am in NI though so might be a bit cheaper here than places in England.

AutumnSummersBuffysCousin thanks for that. It gives me a very rough idea. And yes I have to add more on top as I'm in London :)

you could spray it with "wet and forget."

scraping tiles, and clambering about on them, will cause more damage.

That's a really good tip pigletjohn. Question is, how to get up there! Smile

I have a 4 bed detached house in Reading, a tile scrape was £350 about this time last year.

It depends on how easily accessible your roof is - do you need scaffolding?

If you happen to be in NW London then pm me and I will send you the details of the very reasonably priced roofer we used last month.
