Surveys

I’m trying to work on timings to see the earliest we could look to move to a new home.

How long does it take for the bank to do its survey once your application is accepted? If you do your own buildings survey, how long does that one take?

I heard that surveyors and not available.

There's a 3 week wait for the surveyor we want to use. We had our valuation done really quickly by the bank and got the mortgage offer through within days of that, but as we also wanted our own more detailed survey, we had to wait. Good luck!

Honestly it really depends.

Our survey had a 4 week wait, and buyers mortgage took 6 weeks just to value.

I've heard searches taking up to 6 weeks at the moment too, but then again you might be lucky and everything goes through much quicker!

You're at the mercy of your mortgage company in regards to timing but I'd say 12 weeks from offer to completion would be realistic.

Thank you. We have a mortgage in principle at the moment with NatWest. Any idea if they are one of the better ones in terms of doing things quickly?

Our lender did their survey a couple of weeks after our application. But then took about TEN weeks to get to our formal mortgage offer.

Sorry OP there is no way of knowing! Especially at the moment with the backlog of applications
