Ramsgate/Margate

We are looking to become DFLs and move to Ramsgate or Margate and would really appreciate any views/tips from locals.
Ramsgate seems to have the edge for us presently as it's cheaper but most of all we love the architecture and overall vibe.
Is it safe? Good schools?

We are looking to move from London to Margate with our 13 years old daughter. We would like to know if Margate is a good place for teenagers? Are there lots of things for them to do? Does Margate have a good secondary school ? Do we need to be close to Broadstairs and Ramsgate to get a space at the grammar schools?
