Estate agent fees

Just wondering with the online agents being around now if high street agents are more competitive these days - can I ask if you've sold recently what estate agent fee you're paying?

Have a look at reviews. Ours has a fab offer of 895 it's quite a small company but excellent reviews on all agents website.

Our local high street agents were all quoting us 1% + VAT (which for our house would be in the region of £9k!!).
We have sold with Purplebricks for £2k.

I'm paying a percentage - have I been done?

UnconsideredTrifles · 08/09/2020 18:16

We were quoted 1.5%+VAT by local agents (about £4k). We've gone with an online agent for £200 - when I talked to the 'real' estate agent I didn't get the impression they did much more than the cheap ones.

It's early days though, so who knows?

We just paid 0.75% on a house that sold for 525k) in 6 days. About 5k they made! They did say standard was 1% but all 3 agents offered reduced rate as they were confident it would sell quickly.

1% +vat

polkadotpixie · 08/09/2020 21:51

£1500 + VAT as a fixed fee

We got valuations from 3 agents as we didn't want to do the viewings ourselves. All 3 had set rates (so not a %). One was £1200 inclusive of VAT, one was £1395 inclusive of VAT, and the one we have gone for is £1500 inclusive of VAT with the agreement that if we sell under a certain amount their fees will reduce to £1000.
