Commuting to Acton for work. Where to buy in surroundings?

Hi all,

I just accepted a job to work in Acton, where I will have to attend the office 50% of the time. DH can work remotely.

We want to buy a house, 2-3 bed.,@£350000, max 1h commute by train (2h total), good schools (especially secondary), safe place with a good sense of community. Preferably outside M25, SW/W/NW part of London.

Could you please help me with some advice? Do you think it is possible to find such a place?

Thank you dearly!

Surrey is v expensive so not too sure where 350k gets a house near desirable schools.

I’ve found a 350k house near me, though. It’s in outer London, smart, safe, villagey (green, lots of family amenities and activities for kids, Waitrose, independent shops etc). Top local schools incl excellent primaries, catchment for 5 grammars and an outstanding and high achieving non-selective school.
The downside is a busy-ish road (slow speed and no sitting traffic).

Langley for good grammar schools and a relatively easy commute?
