Anyone stacked different make of dryer on top of washing machine?

Hi, I am looking to get a dryer but it will be a different make to washing machine. Has anyone stacked different makes of dryer and washing machine? Officially manufacturers say warranty is invalid if stacked with other manufacturers machine but I don't know if that's just OTT. So any feedback will be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, but we built our own stacking shelf, rather than using a bought system.

I don't think it would be a problem but I would put a piece of wood (chipboard or plywood at least 100mm thick) the size of the machine between the two devices so that the feet of the dryer don't rest directly on the washing machine.

We attached a big square of mdf to the wall with brackets and then supported the front corners of the shelf with corners of mdf on top of the washer. Meant the top of the washer could be used for storage (peg basket etc). Didn't look pretty but was stuck at the back of the utility so didn't really matter.

Yes we have and have had no problems we bought a universal stacking kit from amazon

Annasgirl · 03/09/2020 18:15

Yes but we have a piece of wood (a shelf), in the middle of the two, in a nook in the kitchen so perhaps this is not the scenario you are talking about?

`loads of the stacking systems are universal so should be fine.

Tappering · 03/09/2020 18:47

Yes. Our washer and dryer are now by the same manufacturer but that's only in the last 6 months. We bought a stacking kit with an integrated shelf which pulls out (very handy for folding washing!). It comes with a ratchet strap for you to wrap round both machines, to keep them steady whilst the washer is in spin mode.

We have two direct males stacked on top of each other - been like it for about three years and no hassles at all.

Oops!

Should have been different makes.

The autocorrect sounds like more fun though...

Redinthefacegirl · 03/09/2020 19:33

Yep, no problems so far.

As others have said, use a stacking kit. We also have an anti vibration mat under the washer to stop it "walking"

GinisLife · 04/09/2020 07:21

I didn't realise stacking kits were a "thing". I just put my tumble drier on top of the washing machine in the boiler cupboard. It's made a great washing area and no issues.
