Who owns this land?

Hoping one of you wise mumsnetters might help.

We are buying a new house that backs on to some land - it is kept wild and is many many acres big!

My concern is that whoever owns it might sell it off for housing in the future. Nothing much I can do about that but I would like to find out who owns the land to see if we can gauge the likelihood.

I have no idea how to find this out? Any ideas?

You can search the Land Registry, or a conveyancer would have access to MapSearch, on the Land Registry

You or your solicitor should also check your council's local plan to see if it is designated for future development.
