Making our porch door the main front door

We’re thinking of making our porch door the main front door and getting rid of our existing front door in order to make a larger entrance area.

I’ve tried googling it to see if there are any issues we should be taking into consideration but nothing is coming up.

Anyone done anything similar that has any insight on issues we might come across?

Removing the internal door will make the house colder and draughtier.

The porch may be less secure.

Insulation, damp, draughts.

What is the construction of the current porch? Does it have damp proof in the floor?

What type of porch do you have? If you got rid of the existing front door, wouldn't your hall be open for everyone to see in more?

The previous owners added a two story extension to the front of the house. Downstairs is the porch and upstairs has increased the space in the box bedroom.

It’s brick built with upvc doors that are really narrow so we are changing the porch doors anyway. It’s why my DH came up with the idea of bringing it into the house.

I have no idea about damp proofing course, how can I tell? I imagine it has or it would have come up on our survey.
