If you have a hob with 5 rings/burners how often, and in what circs do you use all 5 at once?

Personally I’d dread the dishes after using all 5 hobs Wink we regularly use 2, rarely 3.

thisstooshallpass · 25/08/2020 21:50

I had 7, just moved to a house with 5. Still only use 3.

EBM20 · 25/08/2020 21:51

We have a rangemaster with 4 hobs, a griddle, a hot plate thing (never used) and 2 ovens. We use all 4 hobs regularly for sunday dinner and the griddle comes in handy for family breakfast mornings and making eggy/fried bread. We were given it by a friend as one oven does not work due to the thermostat, we've never got round to fixing it so use it to store oven trays and pans. We've had it a few years now so doubt we will ever fix it as we have copped without it

SuperFairy · 25/08/2020 22:39

We have a 6 hob Rangemaster and all burners get used regularly, not necessarily at the same time but dependent on what we are cooking.
I love the wok ring which has a double layer of flames for proper hot cooking.

We also regularly use both ovens at the same time.

bathorshower · 25/08/2020 22:47

We have a four ring hob, and ran out of rings often enough that we've got a stand alone induction ring to the side. The main issue for us is a range of dietary needs - if we could all eat everything we'd be OK.

TheEC the answer to washing up is a dishwasher - all bar one of our pans go in it....

SenorFrog · 25/08/2020 22:53

Only if I do a Sunday roast, rarely use two ovens either. Still like it, but I have plenty of counter space, so not an issue.

SupposeItCouldBeMe · 25/08/2020 22:56

Pretty rare we use all 5 together but I definitely prefer the 90vm width over stds 4 ring 60cm so you can fit pans on easily and not be confined to using certain combinations.

Wingedharpy · 26/08/2020 04:20

Never! - and to think I had a strop in the shop at DH because he didn't want to consider a cooker with 7 burners.
T'was only when he pointed out that we don't actually own 7 pans, that I saw the flaws in my thinking.😂😂

mrbob · 26/08/2020 04:25

Curry night!
Otherwise maybe 3 but the variety of sizes is definitely helpful (also an induction hob fan)

HBGKC · 27/08/2020 16:03

@Flamingolingo would you mind sharing which make/model of induction hob you have, please? It sounds exactly what I want!

Dogwalks2 · 27/08/2020 16:23

Use them all but never at the same time. I only have a standard oven though and dream of getting another but over the years I have became very adapt at fitting Christmas dinners for 8 in it. Bought extra shelving.

Sentos · 27/08/2020 16:24

We have a 5 ring induction hob. The big one in the middle rarely gets used, but DH and I often cook together so the extra width means we can both get to the hob at the same time.

SerenityNowwwww · 27/08/2020 16:25

Mum had one (and a snazzy hot plate) and a stove with 2 ovens. We were a very large family back then though.

She didn’t ever use all the rings but the two ovens were used (one as a warming oven). Then she got the hostess trolley...

Pelleas · 27/08/2020 16:30

Christmas. That's it!

In my defence, it was there when I bought the house.

HBGKC · 27/08/2020 16:32

Thanks @Flamingolingo. Looks great - but the price! Shock

Sarahlou63 · 27/08/2020 16:58

We've got 7 burners! Never used all at the same time but it's lovely having plenty of space. 3 ovens plus a slow oven, only ever use 2 at a time.

Flamingolingo · 27/08/2020 16:58

I can’t remember what we paid - probably not the list price, but we bought from appliance city. There is probably a cheaper version without the wheel thing (which is not as good as the old version anyway), and probably another cheaper option is to forego the flex zone (although it is really useful)

HBGKC · 27/08/2020 21:48

I really want a flex zone so that I can use a giant griddle when I'm making pancakes for 10!

pallisers · 27/08/2020 22:07

I have a six-ring and I love cooking but only come close to using all the rings when I am cooking big celebration meals. It would often have 4 rings though and it is handy to be able to have the space in between them.

I have 2 ovens. I use one as a warming oven most of the time,

OllyBJolly · 27/08/2020 22:20

Often. Don’t think I could do Sunday lunch on four burners

MrsJamin · 27/08/2020 22:36

I use all five (not at once) but... Tbh I think we should have just gone with four as it takes up a lot more space and we could have done with more counter space.

DramaAlpaca · 27/08/2020 22:38

@GervaseFen

Never all at the same time but the space means I can use 4 comfortably and I like the different sizes.
Same here. The middle one is a wok burner.
