Hi

How are you ? I hope this message find you well. We have two DDs 4 and 2. 4yo starts primary school next year.

We are looking to move to Devon. House price would be around £400k with 4 beds.

Does anyone have any advice on the area ?

Where in Devon? What kind of place are you looking for? City/town/rural/seaside? Are transport links important? Devon has two coastlines and is one of the largest counties in the UK.

It would be seaside if possible or near. It would need to be an ok distance to get to Exeter or another mainline station to get to London maybe once a month. Would be nice to be rural but need to be realistic given the other parts I’ve said.

Something fairly rural should be doable on that budget - there are lots of little villagey bits and pieces which might suit you nicely. You'd be best off targeting the southern half of the county, transport-wise, since mainline trains go Plymouth-Exeter-London. (Possibly worth bearing in mind that the seawall at Dawlish is rather vulnerable to storms and this can cause rail disruptions if you're down that way. They're supposed to be building a wall, though.)
