I have two lovely cast iron surrounds and inserts which need fixing to the wall. We intend to use these as decoration only - we don't intend to use as a working fireplace.
I know that if we intend to use the fireplace as a working fireplace then an accredited fireplace fitter is required to fit the fireplaces and it must comply with building regulations.
However does anyone know if a registered fireplace fitter is required if they are for decoration only? Can a general builder do this without invalidating any home insurance, council building regulations etc?
