Any advice on moving to the Frome/Wells/Warminster areas?

Looking to move our family to the Frome area - looking for a detached house with garden, near good schools (private or state - thinking ahead to secondary too). Lots of activities for the kids like footie teams & swimming. Are these good areas for children to grow up? And are the schools good?

I know Warminster and Frome.

Frome is a vibrant and interesting town, more interesting that Warminster but house prices are higher in Frome too. There are loads of good primary schools locally but more difficult to find a decent secondary but you can look private.

Frome actually had a three tired system- first school, middle school and secondary/college.

Wells is a beautiful town but not sure what the schools are like. Might be worth looking at road/rails connections if that is important too because Frome train station isn’t great for connections.

why those 3 towns? There are good private schools in each area, depending on what suits your child. Im not keen of any of them particularly, but if I had to choose it would be Wells.

Creative, quirky, close to Bath - where would you recommend?

Wells is a decent place with some nice villages around. Wells Blue school gets good (but not outstanding) ofsted reports. There's also Wells Cathedral Independent but that's a specialist music school,
and of course you have Millfield in nearby Street, but you will need deep pockets to send your children there.
House prices for the area are a little above average. Feel free to contact me for more info as it's my area.

I'm a few years out of date but isn't Frome largely Londoners, Warminster largely military, and Wells a mixture of retired folk and tourists?

If you want quirky then Glastonbury is nearby.....

Being more serious, what about smaller places like Langport?

Bradford on Avon?

Glastonbury is certainly ........... an acquired taste shall we say.
(apologies to any Glastonians on here Smile

I prefer the wiltshire side of bath - corsham, chippenham villages (but not chippenham itself).
