There’s another switch for a fan boost and general fan, another switch and timer for towel rail only (if you want to dry your towels without heating on)

It has a switch under it but no light or noise when I turn it on.

So what can it be?!!

Looks like a neon light with the bulb gone?

dementedpixie · 19/08/2020 17:25

Is that not just the fuse? Needs to be switched on for any of it to work

BacklashStarts · 19/08/2020 17:25

Emergency light? Or just cupboard light with dud bulb?

dementedpixie · 19/08/2020 17:25

or maybe needs fuse changed

dementedpixie · 19/08/2020 17:26

is there a bulb in it?

CrunchyNutNC · 19/08/2020 17:27

Is it a heater, so your cupboard can be an airing cupboard? The cover looks heater-ish to me.

dementedpixie · 19/08/2020 17:28

Does it heat up? Is it a cupboard heater?

Bsc8180 · 19/08/2020 17:28

Looks like an oil filled heater. Strange to have in a new build.

BillywilliamV · 19/08/2020 17:29

It’s a cockroach trap, they crawl in the little holes. You obviously have a lot of cockroaches,,,

nannymags · 19/08/2020 17:37

dementedpixie A fuse for what? Excuse my ignorance please!

There’s already a light in there.

Yes agree it looks like a heater

Sorry i thought you were asking about the switch to start with. It looks like a heater. Might turn the cupboard into an airing cupboard in the absence of a hot water cylinder

nannymags · 19/08/2020 17:40

There’s a dude board in the cupboard already

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 19/08/2020 17:40

the switch has a fuse in it too

nannymags · 19/08/2020 17:40

Fuse board! Not dude!

OP posts:
MissKittyCat · 19/08/2020 17:41

It's a tubular heater

nannymags · 19/08/2020 17:41

Okay I’m going to try the switch and leave it..... see if it heats up! Thank you x

My DD had an airing cupboard heater that looked like that it just gave off a gentle heat.

Pickpick101 · 19/08/2020 18:01

Looks like one of these

JoanCallamezzo · 19/08/2020 18:04

Def a heater so you can use the cupboard as an airing cupboard. We had one of these in our old house which was a new build and I don’t think I ever switched it on in the 10 years we lived there.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 19/08/2020 18:05

Insect killer? Was your house built of the site of a butcher's shop?

Barton10 · 19/08/2020 18:06

I have got one of those and don’t know what it is. I assumed it was a heater but it doesn’t get hot!

MoverOfPaper · 19/08/2020 18:08

We had one of those in a new build. It was a heater to turn the cupboard into an airing cupboard. I never used it as it was the only storage in the flat so was used to store things that didn’t want warming! I did wonder where the damp would go...

GisAFag · 19/08/2020 18:35

I have similar in my bathroom cupboards. 1960s build. Mine are heaters, the bar glowsorangey red. Never use them as my bathroom is damp and has had leaks from flat upstairs.

Ernieshere · 19/08/2020 18:54

I have one in my new build. The only other thing in the cupboard is a massive boiler, so there in no room for any shelves Confused
