Hi all. I paid a decorater to wallpaper my sons room, he done a amazing job and he's coming back tomorrow to try fix it but I just can't get my head round to why this happened? It's literally fallen off the wall, he told me to take it all down and lay it flat on floor which I did, he's been very nice and said he will sort it, does anyone know why it has happened ? Will upload photo of what it was like then 3 hours later what I walked upstairs to see it like? Thanks all.

Was the wall previously painted with vinyl paint?

Fab wallpaper!

Mumr19 · 15/08/2020 19:20

Paste watered too much maybe.

Mumr19 · 15/08/2020 19:23

@JellyBelly78 I wondered that because on my wall there's some blotches in certain places? Maybe it isn't fully pasted?? I just have no clue I'm not a diy person haha x

When was it done? If in the heat of the last week it is possible that the paste has dried too quickly and not adhered fully to the wall

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/08/2020 19:26

Not enough paste or paste far too runny for the style/material of paper.

I'm wallpapering now and am only an amateur but that has NEVER happened here. It's crazy that it's happened to so many strips of it.

Mumr19 · 15/08/2020 19:26

@Tinyhumansurvivalist it was done today x

@DrMadelineMaxwell hopefully it can get fixed! Do you think it will be able to be fixed? I don't know wether I'm over reacting but I paid £60 for it done and £18 for each roll and I bought 3 I ain't made of money either so I'm quite upset x

Hope you get it sorted next week - not what you need on a miserable wet weekend!

Mumr19 · 15/08/2020 19:28

@GU24Mum thankyou! Yes I agree but thank god he's coming back tomorrow x

Have you been able to lay the paper completely flat? My main worry at this point is whether it's salvageable and whether it will survive being damp, dry and then damp again.

Mumr19 · 15/08/2020 20:02

@DrMadelineMaxwell unfortunately no if you see the first photo you'll see the pipes at the bottom, the last bit of each sheet of wallpaper is still stuck to the wall at the bottom, I hope so! I've only got 1 wall paper spare😭 the decorater is being lovley and re assuring , I'm just worrying I think because it's my first home with my little boy I was just expecting it to be perfect but we've had a few problems since living here lol x

Mumr19 · 17/08/2020 23:44
