Has anyone moved their kitchen to their extension? Any ideas on costs?

We have just bought our first house which we are waiting to move into, the house is lovely but I don’t find the layout ideal. The house has a really small kitchen which we’re not used to, a large living room, and a dining room extension the same size of the living room next to it leading to the garden.

We think having such a large dining room would be a waste as we haven’t used our dining table once in the past 4 years, and the kitchen may cause us some issues being so much smaller than we are used to, so I thought it may be with moving the reasonably new kitchen into the dining room extension and making it a kitchen diner - does anyone have any idea how much this would cost?

It will only cost whatever you spend on your kitchen and its installation, plus the extra plumbing and electrics (which really should only be a few hundred). We are doing the same. The good thing is you can live there while it is being done and just get the old kitchen stripped out when you move into the new one (factor the rip out of the old one, making good etc.) What will you do with the old kitchen? Could you use all/part of it as a utility and use the same plumbing, units etc.? This might be cheaper than ripping it all out. You will probably need building regs too.

We'll be doing the same thing @April66t and I started a thread on it just last week! Some good comments from people who've done similar:
