We accepted an offer on our house today (Yay) however the sellers of the house we really like are elderly and shielding still and to date are not doing viewings Confused

DH called the selling Estate Agents to request a virtual viewing of the property as we have been waiting a good number of weeks now to get in to see it. They will call us back tomorrow.

We have followed up with the agents each week (for over a month now) to find out if there have been any changes / do they still intend to sell etc and are repeatedly told "yes" and reassured but I wondered if anyone here might have any wisdom to share at this time on how to nudge things forward??

But they won’t have viewed anywhere to move to - I think you need to move on and find another house

Congrats on the offer! Whatever their reasons, and whatever the agent is telling you, they don’t sound remotely serious about selling if they’re not allowing any viewings and haven’t even filmed a video tour. Also presumably they don’t have anywhere lined up to move to either if they’re shielding? The chances of you getting anywhere with them within a timeline that’ll keep your buyer happy is highly unlikely and you’d probably be better moving on.

We had the same issue. House went on the market days before lockdown and we tried to view as soon as lockdown was lifted. We were told the seller was shielding but they were making arrangements to go away for the weekend and the agent would arrange viewings over those few days. Never heard back and chased for a few weeks without a positive response. Shortly after, the house went under offer. Not sure if the buyer was able to view or not but all the houses of that style in the street and surrounding area are largely the same layout so if they'd viewed one they might have been comfortable offering without a physical viewing. It's a high demand area near a good school so maybe decided to take the risk. Very frustrating and we were pretty gutted we didn't get the chance to view. I probably wouldn't pin all your hopes on this one and look elsewhere to keep your options open. If they're still shielding they might not be in any hurry.

There’s a house we waited and waited to view like that. The agents have finally taken it off the market.

I agree that you just need to view other properties and find somewhere.

Thanks for sharing your views and experiences with me, it's been really interesting to read and has been helpful too - I really appreciate this.
